Brandon Thompson

Brandon Thompson put together an impressive outing in the District consolation game, and in the first half did everything humanly possible to give his team a chance to come away with a third place District finish.

In the first half alone, Thompson scored half of Liberty’s points with 10 points and also came up with a handful of big blocks on the other end of the floor.

Throughout the night, Sullivan County crowded the paint trying to hinder Thompson, but he was still able to come up with 14 points, eight rebounds and seven blocks on the night to lead his team.

Despite the loss, Thompson put together a solid performance for the Liberty boys basketball team and has earned himself a spot as this week’s Male Athlete of the Week.

Cathryn Brought

Though her senior season came to a close this past week in a loss to the eventual District Champion Loyalsock Lady Lancers, Cathryn Brought put together a season to remember for the Lady Hornets.

Brought scored 12 points in the loss to lead all Wellsboro scorers, but the body of work she amassed during her senior season to lead her team to a District Playoff appearance as the only senior in the starting lineup was beyind impressive.

Throughout the season, Brought scored 17.4 points per game to lead her team, and was not only the top-scoring option, but also the vocal leader for the Lady Hornets.

Brought’s strong play during her final game as a Lady Hornet as well as her stellar senior season as a whole has landed her as this week’s Female Athlete of the Week.
