To celebrate this year’s Collaborative Summer Library Program theme of “A Universe of Stories,” The Green Free Library is holding a cosplay contest for tweens/teens and adults on Saturday, Aug. 17, from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There will be two age group categories: Tween/Teen (12-17) and Adult (over 18). Participants will register on the day of the contest and have their pictures taken in costume.

Library staff will display the pictures of each participant in the library’s main room and attendees will vote on their favorite in each category.

The library will also post these cosplay pictures on its Facebook Page and have people “Like” the pictures to choose a “Facebook Favorite” winner. Contest winners will receive prizes to be announced.

Note: a parent/legal guardian must sign the permission to use photograph section of the cosplay contest registration form of tweens/teens under the age of 18 for the library to post their cosplay pictures and for them to participate in the contest.

However, a signed permission to use photograph form is not required if someone wants to attend the event and dress in costume just for fun or to support a contest participant.

For complete contest information and guidelines, please visit the library’s Facebook page.

The cosplay contest supports the Basic Literacy and Civic and Social Literacy components of PA Forward Pennsylvania Libraries.

The Green Free Library, 134 Main St., Wellsboro, is open Mondays to Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. When the library is closed, the book and media drop is open for the return of items.
