Tioga County Master Gardeners will present a program on soil at the Sept. 16 meeting of the Liberty Garden Club.

In order to have internet service for the presentation, the meeting will be held at Baiba Kreger’s house at 7 p.m.

Ardys Boostrom, coordinator of Tioga County Master Gardners, will do a Power Point presentation on soils and then actually show how the soil is mixed in a hands-on experience.

Robby England, in charge of Tioga County Hot Line for gardeners, will take us through a website on soils that anyone can access anytime. He will also show us how to amend the soil for fall. You don’t want to miss this one.

The Liberty Book Club will meet Monday, Sept. 16 at Faye Kreger’s house to discuss “Educated” by Tara Westover.

A Chicken and Biscuit dinner at Salem Lutheran Church will be on Saturday, Sept. 28 starting at 5 p.m. The menu includes: chicken & biscuits, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, jello salads, desserts and a drink. Adults — $8, children — $5.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes

It is time to start gathering items for our Christmas Shoe Boxes. Brochures will be available in each church in October.

Please help a child come to know the love of God through your gift of a shoe box.

Baiba Kreger is willing to shop for anyone unable to do so. Salem Ladies Aid has generously offered to pay the shipping and handling, but additional

Not to be included are all liquids, candy, gum, tooth paste, glass containers and aerosol cans and war-related toys. This is because of going through Customs.

Please have your shoe boxes at Salem Church by Sunday, Nov. 17. Thank you for your help in bringing great joy and the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ to these children through gift filled shoe boxes. Any questions call, Barb Buchanan at 570-353-6983.
