Edison Rosado, 31, of Mansfield was charged with theft by deception and retail theft following a report of retail theft at Walmart on June 26. Police arrived and talked to an employee who reported that Rosado has made multiple returns of merchandise between Feb. 23 and Feb. 26. The employee showed police video surveillance of Rosado retrieving receipts that were discarded from inside and outside the store. Rosado would then find the item in the store, scan the receipt into the Walmart app on his cell phone to aid in processing the return. Rosado then walked past closed registers to the customer service desk. Once at the service desk, Rosado returned the items for a total of $32.31. Rosado was identified by the Walmart employee and asked to go to the back of the store. Rosado refused and left the store. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5.
