The following individuals are scheduled to appear or have appeared in front of District Judge James Carlson.
Ben D. Housel, 27, of 106 Davis St., Blossburg was charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, assault, terroristic threats and harassment after police responded to a physical altercation that occurred on Oct. 18. Police said Housel pushed the victim to the floor, threw her against a counter, choked and head butted her in the face. When victim attempted to flee, Housel allegedly pushed her down a flight of stairs. Housel was jailed in lieu of $40,000 bail and a preliminary hearing was set for Nov. 6.
Carl Eugene Hartford Jr., 40, of 1605 Blake Road Blossburg was charged with strangulation and assault and harassment after police responded to a domestic dispute on Oct. 27. Police said Hartford threatened to kill the victim’s pet snake and then proceeded to put the victim in a choke hold. After she bit Hartford’s arm, he allegedly punched her in the cheek and threw her onto the bed. As she attempted to leave, the defendant allegedly threw items at her, pushed her to the ground and placed his foot on her throat, restricting her breathing. He was charged in lieu of $15,000 bail and his preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 6.
Alan Michael Bates, 36, of 1187 Round Top Road, Wellsboro was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, carrying and exhibiting driver’s license on demand, driving while operating privilege is suspended revoked, abandonment of vehicles, careless driving and immediate notice of accident to police department following a one-vehicle accident on Route 6, Sept. 5. Following an investigation, Bates was placed under arrest for DUI and transported to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital for a blood draw. Bates NMS lab results showed positive results for THC. Bates preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 20.
