Mansfield University sprint football has announced its 2020 schedule, featuring seven regular season games, including three home games at Karl Van Norman Field.
The Mountaineers are coming off the most successful season in the sprint football era after posting a 5-2 record in 2019. It marked the first back-to-back winning season in program history.
Head coach John Evans enters his third season guiding the Mountaineers in 2020. Last season, a year removed from recording the most wins for a first year head coach since Tom Elsasser won four games in 1983, Evans led the Mounties to a sprint football program-record five wins in 2019. The Mountaineers fell to Army in the final game of the season with a shot to represent the North in the CSFL Championship Game.
The Mountaineers open the 2020 season on Saturday, Sept. 19 at home hosting Penn. The game will conclude Homecoming 2020 and LUMA festivities.
The Mountaineers will host the Josh Palmer Classic on Saturday, Oct. 10 hosting Army West Point.The Mounties will recognize the league-wide bye week on Oct. 17 before returning to action at Navy on Friday, Oct. 23. Mansfield hosts Cornell University in the home finale at Van Norman Field for Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 31.
The Mountaineers conclude the regular season on Friday, Nov. 6 at St. Thomas Aquinas.Mansfield University has been selected to host the CSFL Championship game, which is played between the North and South Divisional Champions at a neutral site on Saturday, Nov. 14.
