Hannah Bowens is the Mansfield Women’s Club Girl of the Month for March. A senior at North Penn-Mansfield High School, she is the daughter of Amy and Robert Bowens of Blossburg.
Bowens has been involved in student council, National Honor Society, represented her high school as a Greater Mansfield Area Chamber of Commerce Youth Leader of Tomorrow candidate and participated in the Southern Tioga School District Mini-THON to help raise money for children battling cancer.
Through the Southern Tioga School District’s dual enrollment program, she took Pennsylvania College of Technology courses, one as a junior and one as a senior, and as a senior is taking three Mansfield University courses to earn both high school and college credits.
Bowens has been a member of the school volleyball team, played on the Nightmare Volleyball Club travel team, girls varsity basketball team and participated in the Lady Tigers Basketball Camp, teaching basketball basics to third through tenth grade girls. In 2019, for their senior project, she and Elizabeth Welch along with their coach Jason Dominick, ran the camp.
In the summer of 2018, Bowens was a Bloss Hoops Basketball volunteer at Blossburg and helped at the Southern Tioga Youth Football concession stand.
She took part in Empty Bowls, a project to fight hunger and has been a volunteer “buddy” helping Tioga County Special Olympics Track and Field Day participants at Mansfield University.
Bowens has been employed as a lifeguard at Blossburg Borough’s Community Pool in Island Park in 2018 and 2019.
Following graduation from high school, she plans to attend Mansfield University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program to become a registered nurse and continue her education to become a nurse practitioner.
