Charges have been filed in the September 2013 murder of a Liberty Township man and assault on his wife. Today, April 9, Debra Lockett, 57, of Nauvoo, heard the charges brought against her at a preliminary arraignment at the Tioga County Courthouse.
Lockett is charged with one count criminal homicide, one count aggravated assault, two counts robbery, one count persons not to possess firearms, one count possessing instruments of crime, one count simple assault, one count theft by unlawful taking, one count receiving stolen property and one count criminal mischief.
Oliver Litzelman, 82, was murdered in his home on or around Sept. 13, 2013. His wife, Edwina, 81, was assaulted. Lockett has been in Tioga County Prison since the beginning of October on unrelated charges.
Her attorney, Public Defender Mary Morris, told the Gazette that she's sure Lockett will plead not-guilty to all the charges. "She's claimed her innocence this entire time. We're waiting to receive the evidence from state police," she said, referring to police lineup photos and DNA evidence.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 22. Read more details in next week's Gazette and Free Press.
