Caleb Williams, a local portrait artist and proprietor of Heritage Portrait Studio of Wellsboro, has sold the Dickens Vintage Portraits portion of the business to Leslie “Tootie” Blakley of October Rain Photography in Wellsboro.
Williams has been creating Dickens themed portraits during Wellsboro’s “A Dickens of a Christmas” street fair in December, for over 10 years.
Blakley will continue the tradition of making the Dickens themed portraits available during Dickens Weekend in December in her new October Rain Photography studio space at the corner of Crafton and Pearl Streets in Wellsboro.
“I am delighted to pass along this opportunity to a talented photographer in Wellsboro who will be willing to keep it going. For all these years, I did it in support of the efforts of the whole town of Wellsboro to add to the things visitors and residents can do during the annual Dickens event, and along the way, I created some memorable portraits,” Williams said.
One of those portraits, entitled “Someone to Look Up To,” earned Williams the final two points necessary to win him the 2012 Photographer of the Year Trophy at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Professional Photographers Association.
Williams will now transition to the creation of custom, heirloom multi-image story books of children interacting with Santa Claus, which will be called “A Sojourn With Santa.”
Blakley, who started October Rain Photography in 2011, opened her new studio space in July, 2019.
She offers creative portraits of families, high school seniors, and now Victorian themed portraits.
“Caleb Williams has offered me a wonderful opportunity to expand my offerings in my creative side of my photography business,” Blakley said.
