David Marcus Maul, 29, of Rochester, N.Y., faces charges of fleeing or eluding police, possession of a prohibited offensive weapon, and multiple traffic violations following an attempted stop of the sport bike he was driving, a 2009 Yamaha FZ6R on Route 15, Liberty Township, Saturday, July 27.
According to documents filed at District Judge Rob Repard’s office, the chase began in the borough at about 1:15 a.m. and borough police requested assistance from state police in stopping three sport bikes committing various traffic violations in the borough.
During the chase, Maul’s bike was clocked by police at traveling well over 100 mph while illegally passing other vehicles on the road.
Once he stopped just over the Lycoming County line, police found Maul to be in possession of an open bottle of Seagrams Vodka in his pocket as well as a taser.
His preliminary hearing was set for Aug. 27.
