After leading the Mansfield University field hockey team to the postseason for the first time since 2011, a record five seniors will represent the Mounties at the annual Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division II Senior Game on Saturday.

The game will be played at 5 p.m. at Millersville University’s Biemesderfer Stadium prior to Sunday’s DII National Championship game.

Larissa Motts, Madison Wilinsky, Meghan Griffin, Dana Evans and Brittany Ryan represent five of just 38 seniors across the country in Division II voted to participate in the prestigious game. Mansfield’s five seniors selected are the most in program history and the most from any one team in the country this season.

Christie Buyer, Motts, Wilinsky, Griffin, Evans and Ryan turned around the program from winning two games as freshman to winning 12 as seniors, while reaching the postseason and ranking tenth in the National Field Hockey poll.

Ryan was named First-Team All-PSAC goalkeeper to highlight the most all-conference selections by the program since 2012. Griffin (forward) and Wilinsky (defender) were named to the 2nd Team All-PSAC, Motts (forward), Griffin (midfielder).

Ryan ranked first in the PSAC in saves (127) and 10th in the country in saves per game (6.68). Ryan’s six shutouts ranked fourth in the conference, while tying a program-record for shutouts in a season. Wilinsky set the all-time career defensive saves record with her 24th as a senior.

Evans ranked fourth in the nation in goals (19) and goals per game (1.00) while ranking near the top of the conference in points (fifth, 44) and shots on goal (seventh, 49).

Griffin tied Evans for the team-lead in assists with six, while also scoring five goals including one game-winner. Motts (nine goals, three assists) scored a goal in six games while finishing with two multi-score efforts.

Buyer started all 19 games, finishing with six goals and five assists, including an assist in the Mounties win over third-ranked Millersville.
