The North Penn-Mansfield baseball team has fallen in three straight games. Starting with an 11-5 loss to Athens April 23, the Tigers have lost their last three home games.
When the Tigers hosted Cowanesque Valley Thursday, April 25, North Penn-Mansfield was the victim of an 11 run onslaught in the fourth inning by the Indians. By the time the Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth the Indians already held a substantial lead, 13-2. North Penn-Mansfield was unable to close the gap and fell to the Indians 14-2 in five innings.
Monday, against Canton, the Tigers started their third straight home game with runs in the first three innings. A five-run third inning gave the Tigers an 8-1 advantage but Canton was just getting warmed up at the plate.
The Warriors put up five runs in the fourth and another three in the fifth to take their first lead of the game. Canton continued to produce on offense with another five runs in their final two at bats while holding the Tigers scoreless over that time to seal a 14-8 win.
The Tigers faced Sayre on the road Wednesday night before a home game against Wyalusing Friday.
