The NTL girls senior basketball all star game was held Monday, March 25. Coach Maureen Poirier led a west team comprised of 14high school seniors from Williamson, Cowanesque Valley, North Penn-Liberty, North Penn-Mansfield and Wellsboro. The team consisted of Ella Durst, Emylee Yusko, Kera McCormick, Karmen Short, Delaney Doan, Makirra Allen, Taylor Thompson, Isabella Clark, Emma Williams, Jeanette Montefusco, Emma Poirier, Heidi Zuchowski and Dani Hunt.
Coach Eileen Sparduti coached an east team that included players from Towanda, Sayre, Northeast Bradford, Athens, Canton, Wyalusing and Troy. The east team included Cearra McKlinko, Syd Schoonover, Taylor Parker, Shaye Chandler, Camry Lane, Stephanie Klovekorn, Amber Merril, Aalyah Bevacqua, Sophie Adams, Katlyn Krise, Emily Champluvier, Hanah Chamberlain and Emilee Cole.
The west controlled the first quarter, scoring 13 points and holding the east all-stars to just six. Poirier hit two shots to lead the west with four. Montefusco was responsible for a three pointer in the first quarter.
The west continued to play well into the second quarter where the girls would equal their first quarter output.
The east would outscore the west in the second quarter with 15 points. At the half the west held a 26-21 lead.
The east was just getting started, the second half was all theirs. The west was held to just eight points over the last two quarters. Meanwhile the east continued to score at a frantic pace putting up 18 then 15 points to finish the night with a 54-34 victory.
Poirier led the west with 10 points. Zuchowski followed close behind with eight points.
Camry led the east with 14 points. Aaliyah also broke double digits with ten points for the east.
