The North Penn-Liberty boys basketball team earned an eight point victory against Northeast Bradford on the road Thursday night.
The game was tied at halftime 24-24. A back and forth third quarter gave the Panthers a three point lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Mounties strong defense stepped up late though and held Northeast Bradford to just seven points in the final quarter. The Mounties scored 18 points in the fourth to earn the eight point win.
Logan Horsely was responsible for 18 points and eight rebounds in the win.
Noah Spencer broke double digits and finished the evening with 10 points.
Duncan Zeafla and Brandon Choplosky each had eight points in the win.
Saturday against South Williamsport the Mounties five game win streak came to an end against the Mountaineers.
South Williamsport held the Mounties to just 14 points in the first half and held a 29-14 advantage. The Mounties came out after the break and attacked the net to outscore South Williamsport 19-12 in the quarter.
The Mounties still trailed 41-33 going into the fourth but the momentum was in their favor. North Penn-Liberty started the fourth aggressively but South Williamsport took over down the stretch to hand the Mounties a 61-46 road loss.
Spencer led the offense with 15 points.
Zeafla finished with 11.
Following the loss the Mounties hit the road to take on Canton. The game was close the entire four quarters.
Either team could have taken the win, but it was Canton who took a three point victory at home to hand the Mounties their second straight loss.
North Penn-Liberty has one game remaining this Friday against Hughesville.
The losses put North Penn-Liberty behind Northeast Bradford for second in the NTL small school division. The Panthers have one game remaining against North Penn-Mansfield Thursday night.
