After a dominant first round victory in districts the Wellsboro baseball team traveled to Montoursville to take on the top seeded Warriors.

The Wellsboro defense played hard behind Zach Rowland on the mound. Rowland allowed eight hits in six innings but the Hornets defense allowed just two earned runs.

At the plate, Wellsboro’s normally powerful offense was held to just three hits.

Despite the slow game at the plate, Wellsboro was in a position to win in the fifth inning.

Leading 2-1 with just two innings remaining the Hornets had an opportunity to take out Montoursville and advance to the semi finals.

It wasn’t to be though, as the Warriors stormed back in the bottom of the sixth inning with two runs to retake the lead, 3-2.

Wellsboro was unable to get a run across the plate in their final at bat and suffered a season ending defeat.

The Hornets will be without Cam Tennis and Taynton Repard next season, but a strong crop of juniors and sophomores gives hope for another successful season next year.
