Nine local talented 13- and 14-year old volleyball players are heading to Florida this weekend, after qualifying for the 43rd AAU Junior Girls National Volleyball Championships.
The event will take place June 18-26 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports and the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., and will enter into the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest volleyball tournament in the world with more than 2,300 teams in competition.
The local travel team, known as Nightmare West, consists of a combination of 14 and under members in their first season from Wellsboro, Sayre, Troy and Southern Tioga area.
Members are Megan Starkweather, Morgan Gentile, Charisma Grega, Shaelyn Berguson, Madeleine Dutra, Madison Minyo, Alison Koval, JoAnne McNamara and Lexi Post.
The girls will began with pool play on Monday, June 20 to be seeded into a respective bracket and continue from there.
