There is an ancient Chinese story about a merchant who claims to have a spear that is unstoppable and a shield that can block any attack. When asked what would happen if a warrior were to use the shield against the spear the merchant is left dumbfounded. It is a paradox.
But what if instead of the spear and shield being used against each other, both were part of one warrior’s assemblage?
