The Wellsboro Lady Hornets have only one blemish on their record, that being the road loss to the North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties Sept. 25.
Since then Wellsboro has been undefeated, earning three set victories in every game. Monday when Wellsboro celebrated senior night the Lady Hornets put on a clinic, illustrating just how good this team is with scores of 25-11, 25-15, 25-11.
Caitlyn Callahan led the scoring with 15 kills and four digs.
Heidi Zuchowski added five kills and six aces in the win.
Bailey Monks was responsible for three kills and a block.
Megan Starkweather had 17 assists, eight aces and two blocks in the victory.
Alaina Goetsch and Ryann Adams each contributed four digs. Adams would also have four aces.
Wellsboro played Athens Tuesday, following the senior night victory. The result was much the same with Wellsboro winning in three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-13, 25-15.
Caitlyn Callahan had 19 kills, four digs, five aces and a block in the victory. Heidi Zuchowski brought home eight kills and nine aces for the Lady Hornets. Shiloh Duff had three kills in the win. Megan Starkweather had 23 assists and a block for Wellsboro.
Breigh Kemp had eight assists and three aces in the win. Rounding out the scoring was Bailey Monks with a block against the Lady Wildcats.
Wellsboro has controlled every match since the North Penn-Liberty game. Wellsboro has improved their record to 15 and 1 on the sesason.
This week the Lady Hornets host North Penn-Liberty Thursday night in what is sure to be another epic battle as the two top teams in the district square off for supremacy. A win for Wellsboro could upset the current balance of hierarchy in the NTL.
