Shiloh Duff attacks the net during Wellsboro’s win over Cowanesque Valley Tuesday. The win Tuesday keeps the Lady Hornets undefeated on the season with the looming matchup against North Penn-Liberty next week that will have district title implications.

The Lady Hornets with a win Saturday over Canton improved to 5-0 on the season. After dropping the first set Wellsboro came back to win three straight sets against a Canton team that was undefeated coming into the match.

Wellsboro’s Caitlyn Callahan had led the Lady Hornets with 19 kills, 10 digs, three blocks and three aces.

Ryann Adams led the team defensively with 17 digs in addition to her seven aces serving.

Megan Starkweather had 21 assists in the win.

Scores for the four sets were; 18-25, 28-26, 25-21, 25-19.

After the weekend win Wellsboro took on Cowanesque Valley Tuesday.

The Lady Hornets won in three sets over the visiting Lady Indians, 25-16, 25-20, 25-16. Caitlyn Callahan had 11 kills in the match, leading the way for Wellsboro. Callahan also had 16 points, five aces and three digs in the win.

Shiloh Duff and Megan Starkweather had seven and five kills respectively.

Starkweather also had 15 assists. Followed closely by Breigh Kemp with 13.

Defensively Ryann Adams led the Lady Hornets with 14 digs.

Shiloh Duff had six blocks and Bailey Monks added three of her own at the net.

The win improves Wellsboro’s record to 6-0. Wellsboro will play Athens at home Thursday before a battle of top teams next Tuesday when the Lady Hornets take on the North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties.

Wellsboro currently has an edge in the league standings with all six of their games being against league foes. The Lady Mounties are the defending league champions. Tuesday’s matchup will have major implications for both teams and could help decide who wins the district title.
