Found property

State Police responded to the Pennsylvania Welcome Center to recover a found cell phone. The owner was contacted and notified.


Laura M. Guay, 20, of State College avoided injury in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 15 in Liberty Township March 5. Guay was operating a 2009 Toyota Camry when she reached down to unplug her phone. The vehicle veered off the berm of the roadway, hitting the rumble strips. Guay then applied her brakes which caused the vehicle to slide into the right lane then back across the left lane before striking a guard rail.

Erika R. Helmke, 38, of Mansfield and a passenger avoided injury in a one-vehicle accident on Catlin Hollow Road in Charleston Township March 10. Helmke was operating a 2007 GMC Yukon when she drove off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch where the vehicle came to rest. Helmke was given a warning for driving on roadways laned for traffic.


Justin Romano, 36, of Rochester N.Y. was arrested for driving under the influence on U.S. 15 in Mansfield Boro Jan. 27. Romano was operating a 2019 Hyundai Sonata when police conducted a traffic stop and found Romano to be DUI.

Chirstopher Kirby, 34, of Wellsboro was arrested for DUI on Round Top Road in Charleston Township, Feb. 29. Kirby was operating a 2015 Dodge Dart when police conducted a traffic stop for several reported traffic violations. During the investigation it was found that Kirby was impaired. He was then taken into custody for suspicion of DUI.

Brandon Schrader, 22, of Lawrenceville was arrested for DUI Feb. 15. Schrader was operating a 2004 Jeep when he was stopped for a traffic violation and reportedly found to be DUI.


State Police are investigating a theft of an ATV from Butternut Lane in Covington Township between the dates of Feb. 22 and March 3. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.

Criminal Mischief

Police are investigating a reported criminal mischief incident that occurred at the Route 49 Exxon in Lawrence Township March 5. The complainant parked a 2018 International Harvester at the gas station. While inside, an unknown individual reportedly cut an air hose to an attached trailer. The airline hose is valued at $100. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.
