It’s been a memorable year, and some people have done some incredible work that should not be forgotten. If you know someone, Tioga Publishing will recognize those volunteers who have gone above and beyond the norm.
Stories about the individuals and groups chosen to be honored will be included in the next edition of the “Landmarks” magazine. The magazine’s theme this year is “Memorable Moments.”
The annual magazine will be published in March 2021. In addition to stories about the community, “Landmarks” will recognize people who are visionaries, who have seen an opportunity to give back to the place where they live and work.
To do that, we need suggestions for people and groups to be honored in three categories.
The first is the Cornerstone Award which will be awarded to the person or organization who, in the judgement of a committee made up of local residents, is most deserving of recognition for improving Tioga County. This contribution may have been made within the last year or it may have been made over a lifetime.
The second category is a Community Champion. This award will recognize individuals or groups for their continued and ongoing support of the community. There will be more than one award presented in this category.
We’ll also present Unsung Hero Awards to recognize individuals and/or groups for a single event or for specialized contributions. This may be someone who took heroic action or a group that supports a very specific area
We’re seeking nominations from the public because you know who is most deserving of recognition.
If you have a nomination, send the person or group’s name and reasons why you think they should be honored to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail to Natalie Kennedy, c/o The Wellsboro Gazette, PO Box 118, Wellsboro, PA 16901. Send your nomination by Dec. 4, after which the selection committee will make the final choice.
Each award recipient’s story will appear in the “Landmarks” magazine and they will be recognized at a reception in front of their families and other special guests.
We hope you’ll take advantage of this opportunity to recognize someone for their service to the community. If you’re interested in being part of the decision-making process, contact us at the above email or call 570-724-2287. We look forward to hearing from you.
