This past weekend, we celebrated Gaudet Sunday, the third Sunday of Advent, so called from the first word of the Introit at Mass (Gaudete, i.e. Rejoice).

Parish Christmas schedule: Christmas Eve: St. Peter’s, Wellsboro, 4 and 6 p.m. and St. Thomas, Elkland, 8 p.m. with carols starting at 8 p.m. Christmas Day: 8 a.m., St. Thomas and 10 a.m., St. Peter’s.

This schedule is assuming that the new boilers at St. Thomas are working. If per chance, they are not, then Christmas Eve Mass and Christmas Day Mass will be 9 a.m. at St. Catherine’s, Westfield.

New Year’s Eve Mass will be celebrated 7 p.m., St. Thomas Hall if the boilers are not working.

The Most Reverend Joseph C. Bambera, D.D., J.C.L., Bishop of Scranton, and the Office for Parish Life wish to invite couples celebrating their 25th or 50th wedding anniversary in 2019 to a diocesan Wedding anniversary Mass on Sunday, June 30. The event includes a 2:30 p.m. mass at St. Peter’s Cathedral followed by a reception. Requests for an invitation, with a mailing address, should be made through your pastor before April 2

Our parish financial books for the tax year close on Sunday, December 31st. Your tax deductible gift needs to be in our hands by that day so you can claim it on your 2018 tax forms. Anyone who uses e-giving or envelopes can have a statement prepared for them upon request.

Save the date. Super Bingo returns to the Knoxville Community Center Jan. 13. Tell your friends and neighbors.
