Coudersport’s Christian Furman recorded a hat trick and had an outstanding performance of three goals to lead the Falcons’ soccer team to a 4-1 home win over Brookville on Monday night in the first round of the District 9 1A Playoffs at CARP Park.
Furman opened the scoring for the Falcons, scoring on a corner kick with 2:22 left to go in the first half, but Brookville responded with one of their own just a minute and seven seconds later for a 1-1 halftime tie.
Six minutes into the second half, Owen Ott came into the game and scored his first goal of the season after being out for the majority of the season with a wrist injury, from nearly 35 yards out.
Furman then tacked on two more goals to bury the Raiders, one with 19:14 to play and the last one with just under three minutes to go.
With the win, the #4 Falcons improved to 7-7-1 and will now travel to Brockway on Wednesday, Oct. 28 to square off with the top-seeded Rovers at 5:30 p.m. at Frank Varischetti Field.
Brockway comes in with a record of 12-2, with seven of the twelve wins being shutouts.
This will be a rematch of last year’s D9 Championship game, this time a semifinal contest, as Brockway defeated Coudersport in the title game last year, 3-0.
