The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Pi Chapter, met at the Glover House in Knoxville on Nov. 13. At the gathering, members contributed a generous selection of toys and games to be taken to the Christmas House in Coudersport for distribution to local families.
During the business portion of the meeting, members reviewed the status of two philanthropic projects that serve to enhance educational opportunities in both Tioga and Potter counties.
Grant-in-Aid awards assist college women during their student teaching assignments, and Classroom Enrichment grants provide teachers with funding for special projects beyond the scope of school district provisions.
Also included was an update of the chapter standing rules and a remembrance ceremony for a deceased member, Barbara Cooper.
The guest speaker was Lori Duffy Foster, who shared her journey from crime reporter to published author. She read excerpts from her Lisa Jamison Mystery Series. The third book in the series, “Never Let Go,” is due to be released soon and will be followed by “No Time to Breathe” in the spring of 2023.
The afternoon concluded with a silent auction of items provided by members, and an array of desserts and beverages was enjoyed by all. Funds from the auction will be used to support the various philanthropic activities.
