Shaylynn Nichols, daughter of Jeanette and Tony Nichols, was honored recently at Austin's 2021 Volleyball Senior Night.
Nichols is a hitter and defensive specialist with the Austin Lady Panthers. She also serves as captain of the volleyball team and plays basketball.
Shaylynn is a member of National Honor Society, student council, Austin Pride Committee, Austin VFW Auxiliary and East Fork Sportsman Club and is currently her class treasurer.
Shaylynn’s future plans are to attend college to become a physical therapist. After obtaining her degree she would like to move to South Carolina, get a good job, start a family and live a long happy life.
Shaylynn has this advice for underclassman: “If you ask anyone they will say their high school career goes by fast, and it does. Don’t take this time for granted: Play your hardest, fight till the last point and, most importantly, enjoy playing.”
Coach Pam Terrette said, “Shaylynn is a model teammate and a pleasure to have in the gym. She does whatever we ask of her with no questions or complaints. She always has a positive attitude and is encouraging to the younger girls. I cannot say enough about Shaylynn’s character and the young women that she is becoming. She is a true role model on attitude, effort, respect and sportsmanship. Shaylynn, you will be greatly missed next year. I wish you all the best in the next chapter of your life.”
