Mrs. Claus handed out candy canes and toys to kids after they visited with Santa during the 2018 Town Light Up. They had a choice of a stamp or a ball.

UPDATE: This event has been canceled.

The Coudersport Chamber of Commerce announced it will hold the first “Our Own Santa” weekend, Nov. 27-28.

On Friday, Nov. 27, Light Up Night on the Courthouse Square will take place at 6 p.m. People are invited to drive-thru and see Santa and his sleigh on the roof of the Lewis Mansion on Mill Street, Coudersport, and hear him talk from the roof. Enter from the rear of the property and exit at the front. Hot chocolate and goodies will be provided. Kids can bring their letters to give to Santa. People are asked to remain in their cars; someone will hand them the cookies and take the letter for Santa.

Then from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28, residents are invited to take part in the “cookie walk on Main Street” as part of “A Small Town Christmas.” And remember, Santa likes cookies, too, so he might be seen there.

Masks are recommended and social distancing should be practiced.

The Chamber thanks the John Rigas family for providing all of the Christmas Trees, Kightlinger Motors for decorating the gazebo tree, A Way Out for lighting, Stan at Shop ‘n Save for providing goodies and Sweden Valley Manor for providing hot chocolate.
