On Friday, Jan. 6 Coudersport hosted Ridgway for an intense match-up resulting in a 60-30 loss for the Coudy boys.
Ridgway jumped out to an immediate 16-6 lead by dominating the offensive on the court. Coudersport fought hard, but the first quarter belonged to the Elkers.
The Falcons rallied to outshoot Ridgway in the second quarter with a 14-9 run in Coudersport’s favor, but Ridgway still held a two point lead going into the break.
Returning to the court for the third frame, the Elkers pressured offense, allowing them to widen their lead over the Coudy boys. Along with a few successful foul shots and a pair of drained three-pointers, the Elkers took complete control of the court.
In the final quarter, it was much of the same from the Elkers as they quickly racked up points. While Coudy’s defense was strong, the Falcons couldn’t overcome the early point deficit and ultimately fell 60-30.
“I feel like we could’ve played a little more aggressive with our defense,” said Coudy’s head coach Brian Furman.
Coudersport is scheduled to face off against the Galeton Tigers for their next game.
