The Northern Potter Panthers’ 12-man soccer team is still struggling to find their first win of the season after an 8-1 downing at the hands of Galeton on Monday, Oct. 5.
The Panthers (0-8) faced off with Galeton (4-4) for the first time this season on the road, and found themselves buried by halftime, 4-0. In the first half, it was all Jake Cochran for the Tigers. Cochran scored all four goals for Galeton in the half, one at 30:35, 22:08, 16:21 and 7:03.
The Tigers then scored four more goals in the second half to secure the game, two of them by Gavin Sykora, and one each from Noah Shutt and Ty Stover. Sykora’s two goals came at the 26:12 mark and the 25:20 mark, while Shutt and Stover’s goals were at 18:14 and 16:04, respectively.
The lone goal for Northern Potter came late in the game at the 10:40 mark, as junior Gary Bliss found the back of the net.
With the Tigers evening out their record, they will attempt to rise above .500 on Thursday, Oct. 8 when they host the Crusaders of Elk County Catholic.
The Panthers will have many opportunities to bounce back from what has been a rough season thus far, but face a tough six-game stretch to close out the season.
They return to their home field on Thursday, Oct. 8 to battle St. Marys.
