Despite another strong performance by Oswayo Valley’s Jadyn Brabham, the Lady Green Wave volleyball squad fell just short of a big victory in a tight five-set contest at Elk County Catholic on Oct. 10.

Brabham has become a threat to opposing teams, as she is now a nominee for D9 Player of the Week.

It will be decided by votes on D9and10Sports.com, and she nears 9,000 votes just ahead of Otto-Eldred’s Reilly Raught, who is nearing 7,000. Brabham’s percentage lead is 35%-27%.

In the loss, she contributed a game-high 17 kills and 27 digs while getting two blocks and an ace.

Macy West also had a good game for OV, dishing out 12 kills, 11 blocks, 19 digs and three aces, while Trinity Lundy contributed a team-high 30 digs to go with a kill and an ace.

Johanna Dickerson ran Oswayo Valley’s offensive attack with 22 set assists while adding five kills, three blocks, two aces and five kills.

For Elk County Catholic, Maddie Marzullo had eight kills and three blocks with Tori Newton getting seven kills. Brooke Bauer contributed six kills and three aces while Julia Aikens had two aces to go with 13 digs.

Haley Baron had six kills and Tami Geci led the Lady Crusaders in digs with 38, a game-high, while also getting two aces. Moira Stanish ran the offense with 37 set assists while getting three kills and two aces.
