Veteran Potter County hunter gets nine-pointer

Frank Monberger (right), 53, of Berks County, harvested a nine-point buck with a compound bow on Wednesday, Oct. 28 in Roulette. He was hunting with his father and nephew. He was in a blind and saw the buck earlier in the day and waited for its return. He got out primos can, rolled it twice and the buck walked about 25 yards in front of him. It took them about five hours to get the deer out of the woods. He estimates it weighs at least 170 pounds, because his scale tops out at 160 points. This is one of the biggest deer he’s gotten in Potter County. Frank has been hunting in Potter County since he was 14 years old and now it’s become a family tradition; his parents also live in the county now. Pictured with Frank is Dustin Monberger.
