Strangulation

A 23-year-old man of Coudersport was arrested for strangulation after police were dispatched to a reported suicidal male at Route 6 West, Coudersport Sept. 7. The investigation revealed that the male was suicidal and had assaulted his 27-year-old girlfriend of Austin. The investigation is ongoing.

Drug possession

A 17-year-old girl of Haddon Township, N.J. was arrested following a report of an out of state vehicle stealing Trump campaign signs. The 2015 Ford Focus was stopped on Buffalo Street, Eulalia Township Sept. 4. During the stop, the driver was found to be in possession of a controlled substance. The investigation is continuing.

A 26-year-old man of Port Allegany was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop on Route 6, West, Roulette Township Sept. 9. The driver was operating a 2008 Ford Expedition when he was stopped for a traffic violation. Charges will be filed in district court.

Crashes

Robert H. Cheatle, 73, of Wilcox, suffered a suspected minor injury in a motorcycle crash on Cherry Springs Road, Abbott Township Sept. 26. Cheatle was traveling north on a 2010 Harley-Davidson Softtail when a deer entered the roadway and Cheatle swerved to avoid it, causing the bike to be put down on its left side by the operator. Cheatle reported minor injuries and was transported to UPMC Cole for further evaluation.

The driver sustained injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Kinney Road, Genesee Township Sept. 22. Michelle E. Cadwell, 25, of Coudersport, was traveling east in a 2000 Toyota Corolla when a deer entered the roadway and she sweved to miss it, traveled onto the left berm and hit a boulder, causing the car to go airborne and hit a utility pole. Cadwell was transported to UPMC Cole for treatment of her injuries.

Christopher R. Gray, 29, of Coudersport, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on East Second Street, Sweden Township Sept. 11. Gray was traveling east in a 2017 Ford Interceptor when a bear was in the same lane and Gray was unable to avoid impact. The bear left the roadway to the south. The vehicle sustained damage that rendered it inoperable. Gray was wearing a seat belt.

There were no injuries reported in a one-vehicle collision with a deer on Marsh Creek Road, Harrison Township Oct. 1. The unnamed driver was traveling north in a 2010 Chevrolet Impala when a deer ran off the west side embankment and into her lane of travel. She was unable to stop in time before hitting the deer. The car sustained minor damage to the front bumper and hood.

Amber N. Carlson, 23,of Coudersport, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash with a deer on Cowley Hill Road, Keating Township Oct. 1. Carlson was traveling west in a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic when the deer entered the westbound lane and Carlson was unable to avoid hitting it. She was wearing a seat belt. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Annette F. Witoshynsky, 56, of Coudersrport, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash with a deer on East Branch Fishing Creek Road, Hebron Township Oct. 1. Witoshynsky was traveling south in a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse when the deer emerged from the east side of the roadway and entered her lane of travel. She was unable to stop bfore hitting the deer. She was wearing a seat belt.

Steven M. Newton, 51, of Proctor, Vermont, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Bark Shanty Road, Keating Township Oct. 1. Newton was traveling west in a 2008 Ford F350 pick-up truck when he swerved to avoid a box truck traveling in the opposite direction which veered into his lane causing him to drive off the roadway and into a ditch. The white box truck labeled with blue lettering “Rider,” then fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Coudesrport at 814-274-8690.

Jordan M. Rinamon, 26, of Smethport, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash with a deer on Route 6, Eulalia Township Oct. 1. Rinamon was traveling east in a 2016 Ford Explorer when the deer came into the roadway from the south side. Rinamon was unable to avoid hitting the deer causing disabling front end damage to the vehicle. He was wearing a seat belt.

Burglary

A 15-year-old girl from Lancaster, reported as a runaway, was arrested for burglary at 21 Mosch Hollow Road, Abbott Township Sept. 4. Before she was found and returned it was determined she had burglarized two structures and committed other crimes before being found. Charges were filed through juvenile probation. Recovered was a silver kitchen knife valued at $10.

Harassment

A 54-year-old female of Osceola was the victim of harassment following an incident in the parking lot of Missy’s Market, Harrison Valley Sept. 25. A 28-year-old woman of Westfield was arrested and cited with one count of harassment for no legitimate purpose.

A 12-year-old male of Homer Township was the victim of a possible harassment between him and another juvenile on Sept. 16. The investigation is continuing.

A 30-year-old man of Galeton was the victim of harassment with physical contact during a domestic disturbance on First Street, Galeton Oct. 5. The investigation is continuing.

DUI

A 50-year-old man of Rexville was arrested for possible driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop on Pleasant Street, Ulysses, Sept. 27. The driver was operating a 2017 Ford F. 250 supercab pick-up truck when he was stopped by police. Charges are pending the result of blood testing.

A 26-year-old male of Elba, N.Y. was arrested for driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance following contact with the arrestee in his 2019 Chevrolet Cruze at 406 Main Street, Genesee Township. The case remains open.

A 54-year-old man of Tarentum was arrested for driving under the influence of intoxicants and possession of a controlled substance following a traffic stop of a 2005 Ford on East Fork and Forestry roads, Wharton Township Oct. 2.

Criminal mischief

A 69-year-old Columbia man was the victim of criminal mischief following a report of a firearm being discharged into an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief. Police said they found three bullet holes in the structure at 2 Spruce Tree Road, West Branch Township that appeared between June 1 and Oct 3, according to the victim. Police are investigating a report of criminal mischief following an incident involving two drivers on Route 872, Austin Oct. 1. Police responded to a report of the two vehicles traveling southbound around midnight when the operator of a black sedan sped up to pass a white Honda, cutting it off as it pulled in front of it. The driver of the black car then exited the vehicle and proceeded to punch out the driver’s side window of the Honda.
