It was a beautiful weekend with brilliant foliage and mild temperatures, and Liberty was buzzing with people on October Fest Day at the 10-Mile Yard Sale. The committees selling food ran out of their specialty by 10 a.m. I went out about 11 a.m.to find that the barbecued chicken was all gone, homemade apple dumplings were gone and there were no Mr. Sticky’s.
The Lutheran Parish will have a Harvest Home service this Sunday, Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. held at Salem Lutheran Church. Masks are not yet mandatory but requested.

It’s the time again to start collecting the items for the Christmas Child Shoe Boxes. Brochures are available at each Lutheran Church. Help a child to know the love of God through your gifts in the shoe box.
Barb Buchanan will shop for those who cannot go shopping. Things that cannot be included and are prohibited by customs are the following: all liquids, candy, gum, toothpaste, glass containers, aerosol cans, war toys.
Please have the wrapped boxes (with lid separately) at Salem Church by Sunday, Nov. 15. Call Barb at 570-353-6983 if you have questions. I know what these shoeboxes mean to a child as I was once a recipient of these boxes while a refugee in Germany.
