WELLSBORO — The Cowanesque Valley girls tennis team was able to come up with a clean-sweep against Wellsboro on Tuesday, Sept. 8 with a 5-0 win in the NTL girls tennis season-opener.
Despite fielding a young team, Cowanesque was able to showcase some dominance in their first match of the season, with all three of the singles players for CV coming up with convincing wins.
Megan Wattles, the only senior on the roster, topped Wellsboro’s Ana Perry by scores of 6-0 and 6-2.
Wattles’ ability to help lead a young group of girls on the court will be imperative to their success in the 2020 season.
Kara Watterson also came up with wins in straight sets, topping Alexis Banks by scores of 6-1 and 6-0.
Shae Schoonover also had a strong performance and shut out Wellsboro’s Brittany Route in consecutive sets by a score of 6-0 in both.
