Male Athlete of the Week
Williamson Warrior Wrestling
Sophomore wrestler Kade Sottolano has burst on the scene this season, and continued to wrestle extremely well as he took home a third place finish in the District 4AA North Sectionals, coming up with a big win over Kamden Ricci from NEB who he pinned in 39 seconds.
After a tough loss to eventual winner of the 220-pound bracket Trevor Williams from Canton, Sottolano bounced back to grab the top finish for Williamson with a third place clinching win over Alex Perez from Towanda by a 3-2 decision.
With two more years of wrestling left on the plate for Sottolano, the sky’s the limit to what he will be able to achieve in the future. Sottolano is currently 24-7 and his third place finish in Troy has landed him as this week’s Male Athlete of the Week.
Female Athlete of the Week
Wellsboro Lady Hornets Basketball
During the Wellsboro Lady Hornets push to the district playoffs, Emma Coolidge has been playing her best basketball of the year and is a large reason for Wellsboro winning five of their final seven games in order to sneak into the playoffs.
During that stretch, Coolidge has averaged just over eight points per contest as well as two huge double-doubles that helped Wellsboro come out with must-win games through the end of the year.
Her emergence and gaining of confidence on the offensive end and on the glass has been a big addition to the Wellsboro attack, and is a huge reason why they find themselves in the district playoffs.
Coolidge’s breakout stretch has landed her as this week’s Female Athlete of the Week.
