Junior Hunter DePrimo allowed one earned run over 6 and 2/3 innings and junior Ben Osborne drove in two runs to lead the Mansfield University baseball team, but Frostburg State University plated three runs in the final inning including a walk-off single to earn a 6-5 non-conference victory on Saturday, March 8 at the USA Baseball Training Complex.

The Mounties (4-8 overall) took a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth, but Frostburg State (4-7 overall) used three singles and two walks to push across three runs to walk off with the victory.

Senior Josh Kulina notched his fourth multi-hit game and extended his hit streak to seven while also scoring a run. Osborne notched two RBI with sophomore Brittain Shander and freshmen Zach Spray and Josh Farina also plating runs.

DePrimo struck out nine batters in 6 and 2/3 strong innings while allowing just one earned run. Freshman Todd Erney (1-3) threw the final inning and 2/3 while striking out two and allowing three runs in the loss.

Devin Griffith (1-0) threw three scoreless innings for the Bobcats to earn the victory. Bret Fogle and Bryce Jackson each finished with two hits and two RBI to lead Frostburg State.

The Bobcats scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third to take an early 1-0 lead.

After allowing the solo run in the third, DePrimo settled in and did not allow a score over the next three innings. DePrimo got stronger as the game moved along, proving his dominance by striking out the side in the bottom of the sixth inning.

The Mounties broke out in the top of the sixth inning, scoring five runs to take their first lead of the afternoon, 5-1. Furina led off with a single, senior Brady Mengel and junior Nate Cotton followed with walks to load the bases and Osborne capitalized with a single to left to plate two. Spray followed with a single of his own and Shander added a sacrifice fly to extend the lead.

The Bobcats benefited from a Mountaineer mishap to plate two runs in the bottom of the seventh and set up the 5-3 score heading into the final inning.

The Mounties close their spring break trip on Sunday, March 8 in Cary, N.C. when they battle West Virginia State in non-conference action at the USA Baseball Training Complex.
