DUI

A 23-year-old man of Mansfield was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants following a traffic stop of his 2009 Chevrolet on Newtown Hill Road, Richmond Township Sept. 5.

Crashes

Jessica E. Hanwell, 21, of Taneytown, Md., and her passenger Joseph T. Filsinger, 22, of Towson, Md., escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 15, Lawrence Township Nov. 8. Hanwell was traveling south in a 2013 Hyundai Veloster when she hit a dead deer in the left driving lane, disabling the vehicle. They were both wearing seat belts.

Quinton R. Schubmehl, 67, of Ithaca, N.Y. escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 15, Liberty Township Nov. 12. Schubmehl was traveling south in a 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek near the Sebring exit when a deer entered the roadway and he hit it, disabling the vehicle. He was wearing a seat belt.

John C. Murray, 28, of Benton, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 49, Lawrence Township Nov. 5. Murray was traveling east in a 2016 Nissan Maxima when a deer entered the lane of travel. He was unable to avoid hitting it, and the car was disabled. He was wearing a seat belt.

Brandy M. Lenig, 26, of Hanover, was suffered a possible injury in a one-vehicle crash on Route 49, Osceola Township Nov. 12. Lenig was traveling west in a 2006 Toyota Rav4 when she left the roadway and hit a utility pole. She was transported to SSMH, Wellsboro, by Nelson Volunteer Fire Company ambulance. Her passenger, Jack E. Hand of Elkland, was not injured in the crash. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Theft by deception

A 38-year-old Westfield woman was the victim of theft by deception after she received a letter at her residence stating an unemployment claim had been made in her name. She did not make the claim and reported it as fraud. No identifying information was available as to the identity of those making the claim. The victim had made a report with unemployment and was not out any money. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield at 570-662-2151.

Criminal trespass

Police are investigating a report of criminal trespass that occurred at Buffards Riverside Estates, Lawrenceville, on Nov. 12. The complainant said she heard movement outside her residence and when she went outside she observed someone near her boat. She screamed at the suspect, causing them to flee. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield.

Found property

Police are still looking for the owner of a pink leather wallet that was found on June 17 in a grassy wooded area adjacent to Route 6, Charleston Township containing a Pennsylvania driver’s license belonging to Julie Nybeck. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police.
