WELLSBORO — The Tioga County proposed 2021 budget is on display in the Tioga County Courthouse now through Dec. 15, when it will be adopted.
The budget sets the general fund at $18,449,296, down more than $1 million from this year when it was $19,560,094. The reduction is general across all departments, said Chief Clerk Derek Williams. There’s also fewer conferences and less travel, which encompasses fuel and vehicle use. Some insurances also saw a decrease, he said.
The Department of Human Services budget is set at $17,711,658, a slight ose over 2020’s $17,482,617.
The tax millage will remain at 6.75 mills for the 12th year.
The county opened bids for the sale of a 2007 Ford Expedition, a 2006 Ford Taurus and a 2008 Dodge Caravan. Eleven bids were submitted: four for the Taurus ranging from $308-$818, two for the Caravan ranging from $1,253-$1,509, and five for the Expedition ranging from $750-$2,117.
The board tabled the bids for review and will award it at a future meeting.
In a related matter, the board approved lease agreements for five vehicles — four 2021 Chevrolet Traverse and a 2021 Ford F-250, all for 60 months. The total monthly payment for the vehicles is $2,496.44.
Risk Manager Marc Rice said the county currently leases 35 vehicles from Enterprise. The arrangement has decreased the county’s monthly payments by an average of $120 per vehicle, as well as provide more fuel efficient and safer vehicles for staff, he said.
