Theft

Several items were stolen from the outside of a closed business between July 1 and Sept. 15. A mower deck, valued at $200, was among the items stolen from Deco Cattle and Equipment, 291 Catlin Hollow Road, Charleston Township.

Several items were stolen from a parked, unlocked vehicle on the owner’s property recently. Items taken were a wallet valued at $35, containing a Social Security card, a North Carolina driver’s license, a U.S. Army identification card, and a credit card. The theft took place between Sept. 15 and Sept. 17 from a 2003 Chevrolet Trail Blazer at 379 School Road, Lawrence Township.

Someone stole an ATV from a Wellsboro man Sept. 7. The 1995 Polaris Magnum 425 ATV was taken from the victim’s property at 1907 Balsam Road, Delmar Township.

A snowmobile was stolen from a Westfield man on Aug. 31, and police later recovered it in a storage shed in Westfield. Charges were filed against a 40-year-old Knoxville man for allegedly taking the 199 Arctic Cat from the victim’s property on Route 49, Westfield Township.

Items located outside of a garage in Richmond Township were reported stolen between Aug. 13 and Aug. 20. Among the items taken from the 66-year-old Mansfield man were a cobalt splitting mall and a splitting wedge. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield at 570-662-2151.

A 61-year-old Mansfield man was the victim of theft by deception over the course of two years. The victim reported on Aug. 12 that he sent an unknown male pretending to be a female about $1,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield.

Criminal mischief

Several road signs belonging to PennDOT were spray painted with profane language and pictures on Route 414, Liberty, between Aug. 17 and Aug. 18. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at Mansfield.

Crashes

A New York state man was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash on Route 15, Tioga Township Sept. 7. Dustin S. Lalonde, 34, of Elmira heights, N.Y. was traveling north on Route 15 on a 2009 Honda motorcycle near the Welcome Center when he hit a racoon in the road, causing the bike to go into a skid and slide along the highway. Lalonde came off the bike and landed in the roadway. He was wearing a helmet. Lalonde was transported to Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre via medical helicopter.

An Elkland man suffered a suspected minor injury in a one-vehicle crash into a house on Route 349, Westfield Township Sept. 12. John R. Howland, 67, of Elkland, was traveling south in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala sedan when he left the roadway while negotiating a right hand turn, and hit the porch of the residence at 4764 Route 349, Clymer Township. Howland was transported to SSMH, Wellsboro by Sabinsville Firemen’s Ambulance and cited for failing to drive on roadways laned for traffic. No one in the house was injured. Howland was wearing a seatbelt.

A 22-year-old Roaring Branch man was injured in a one-vehicle crash on Route 414, Union Township Aug. 31. Austin C. Foutz was traveling east in a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt when he lost control on a right hand curve and drove off the roadway, hitting a tree stump. Foutz was transported to Troy Hospital by Liberty Township Fire Department ambulance. He was cited for speeding.

A New York state woman escaped injury in a on-vehicle crash on Route 14, Canton Township on Sept. 19. Amy E. Ackerman, 22, of Norwich, N.Y., was traveling south in a 2007 Chrysler 300 sedan when she observed a deer running from the eastern shoulder to the western shoulder of the road and hit it.
