The Wellsboro swim team kicked off the 2019 summer swim season with a win Wednesday, June 26 at home against Lock Haven. Wellsboro won 7-4.
The event included many firsts for Wellsboro including the debut of a new wireless timing system.
Wellsboro’s eight and under girls team totaled 40 points, doubling the Loggerheads score of 20.
The eight and under boys were also successful, scoring 36 points for the win.
The girls nine and 10 team fell to Lock Haven 46-19.
Meanwhile, the boys nine and 10 team put up an impressive 60 points for the win.
In a close competition, the 11 and 12 girls team was just edged out of a win, falling 43-31.
The 11 and 12 boys team scored 38 points to Lock Haven’s 15.
Both the 13 and 14 boys and girls teams posted scores of 42.
Wellsboro’s 15-18 team posted 48 points. The boys posted a score of six to Lock Haven’s 15.
Following the season opening win Wellsboro traveled to Milton Saturday, June 29 with 55 swimmers. Despite not having a full roster of swimmers, Wellsboro was competitive and earned a 5-5 tie.
Wellsboro posted wins in the eight and under girls, nine and 10 boys, 11 and 12 girls and both the 13 and 14 boys and girls teams.
Wellsboro was back in action Tuesday, July 2 for a home meet against Jersey Shore. The score from this match will be in next week’s paper.
